CathWest Innovation College – Catholic Education Diocese of Parramatta (CEDP)

Why We Were Appointed:

CEDP engaged FACTION for our expertise in fast-tracked project delivery, stakeholder management, and the ability to deliver high-quality design, construction, and operational outcomes under compressed timelines.

Client Challenge:

CEDP needed to launch a new innovation-focused learning pathway for senior students by Day 1, Term 1, 2020, with no prior business case, design, or construction underway, and a fixed, non-negotiable timeline.

The Tailored Solution:

  • Implemented a fast-tracked delivery strategy across design, procurement, construction, and operations

  • Recommended a blended Managing Contractor / Design & Construct contract, new to CEDP

  • Conducted intensive collaborative workshops to align stakeholders and sub-contractors

  • Explored 24-hour site operation opportunities and optimized neighbourhood constraints

  • Provided change management support for staff transitioning to a non-traditional teaching model

Results / Outcomes / Metrics:

  • Delivered the equivalent of 18 months of work ($13M) in 10 months

  • Notice of Completion issued 4 weeks before the critical launch date

  • Successful revitalisation of two campuses into innovation-focused colleges

  • Enabled students to pursue non-traditional learning pathways while meeting NSW HSC requirements

  • Managed stakeholder expectations effectively, including staff transitioning to a project-based learning framework
